About: This was my second time making a digital painting of a character. Faces and portraits are something I still struggle with and I felt the best way to practice both realism and faces was to draw one of my own characters this way. Most of the time, I use hard outlines when drawing characters, but keeping in mind that this was meant to be a portrait, I challenged myself to not use any outlines in the final design. Originally I wasn’t going to make a nude version, however in the sketching process I took a look at what I had and wanted to try something new. Nude drawings and anatomy is something I want to further explore. At first when I took a Life Drawing class the idea of nude models made me uncomfortable, but after a while it became natural. So painting this was also good practice for that too. Additionally, you’ll notice that this character appears a lot. She’s my first DnD character and holds a lot of significance to me. Alariya is one of my favorite subjects to draw mainly because of how much detail I put into her features. Sometimes I find myself still polishing different parts of her, but working with the same character allows me to learn more and will help with developing my future characters.
